Committee Members

Julia Boyce – Chair

Julia BoyceIn spite of her life-long love of choral music Julia had not belonged to a choir since her student days until she joined BCS in 2003.  She sings soprano and amongst her favourites are works by Vivaldi, Pergolesi and Fauré.  She is particularly looking forward to the choir’s performance of Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man in May 2012.  Julia has also served as Librarian for BCS.  She spent most of her working life in education, in both teaching and administration, and is now retired and a proud grandmother of three.

Margaret Parker – Treasurer

Margaret ParkerMargaret joined the choir in September 2005 and became our Treasurer a year later.  She is a Chartered Accountant and spent her career at Deloittes in London and Milton Keynes. She loves the way that rehearsals are run in such a friendly yet effective way, and values the fact that the choir is non-auditioning so that it really is open to all.  Margaret sings second soprano.

Cecilia Wright – Secretary

Cecilia WrightCecilia joined BCS soon after Graham began as conductor in 1998, having belonged previously to a small choir run by him which was disbanded when he took up the baton in Berkhamsted. Cecilia, who is an alto, loves singing and all kinds of music and says that she has learned a lot about both from Graham over the years. Her most enjoyable task as Choir Secretary is as ‘communications officer’ for the choir, sending out weekly email updates to keep everyone in touch with choir news and events.

Linda Williams – Membership Secretary

Linda WilliamsLinda has been a member of BCS for nine years, and sings second soprano.  Her other interest is drama, and she has acted on the amateur stage all her life – so particularly appreciates the fact that in the choir she doesn’t have to learn the words!

John Fisher

John FisherJohn joined BCS in 2008 after returning to the UK from Kuwait, where he had sung with a choir for the previous nine years.  John is Tenor voice rep, and also chair of the Joint Concert Committee, which manages events run jointly with our sister choir, the Chorleywood Choral Society.

Jill Glenn

Jill GlennJill sings second soprano, and has been with the choir for since May 2009, having finally summoned up the courage to join after being a regular member of the audience for several years.  She finds rehearsals both challenging and exhilarating.  Jill also prepares the publicity material and programmes for BCS.

Bill Newberry

Bill NewberryBill sings second bass, and brings a diverse knowledge of technical matters for the choir and committee’s benefit.

A thriving, 80-strong mixed voice choir. Friendly, welcoming, non-auditioned but high achieving.
